BCCI Confirms Jasprit Bumrah Ruled Out of Sri Lanka Tests, Auqib Nabi Named Replacement
Jasprit Bumrah has officially been ruled out of India's upcoming Test series against Sri Lanka. The BCCI confirmed he has not yet fully recovered from the left knee injury he picked up during the ODI series against England.
The Men's Selection Committee has named Jammu & Kashmir pacer Auqib Nabi as his replacement. It's a maiden call-up to the senior national team for Nabi.
Nabi has been in outstanding form over the last two Ranji Trophy seasons, picking up 104 wickets in that span. That includes 60 wickets in the 2025-26 season alone, where he played a key role in Jammu & Kashmir's first-ever Ranji Trophy title.
He also featured for India A on their recent tour of Sri Lanka, taking six wickets across two first-class matches there.
Bumrah had not bowled since India's second ODI against England in Cardiff on July 16, and had been undergoing fitness assessments at the BCCI Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru without being cleared to resume bowling.
