Joe Willock's Besiktas Move Still Alive Ahead of Turkey's September 3 Deadline

Joe Willock could still leave Newcastle for Besiktas before the transfer saga finally closes, with Turkey's delayed deadline giving the Super Lig side until September 3 to complete a deal despite the Premier League window having already shut.

Willock has reportedly agreed personal terms with Besiktas on a contract through 2030, and the Turkish club has offered around €20 million (£17m) to try to prise him away from St James' Park, a figure that matches Newcastle's long-stated valuation after Besiktas' earlier offers fell well short. However, the picture has shifted since new head coach Matthias Jaissle took charge, with Willock scoring on his return to first-team involvement in the 2-2 opening-day draw with Liverpool and starting the following match.

Sky Sports has reported that Jaissle sees Willock as a genuine option in the number 10 role and supported Newcastle's decision to knock back Besiktas' interest, while the Daily Mail's Craig Hope has suggested Willock is now more likely to stay and could even be offered a new contract extension, with his current deal set to expire next summer.
