India Claim First Asian Games 2026 Medal as China Sets World Record

India won their first medal of the 2026 Asian Games, claiming silver in the women's 10m air rifle team event. China took gold with a new world record score of 1904.2, while Japan settled for bronze.

India's trio of Sonam Uttam Maskar, Elavenil Valarivan and Vidarsa K Vinod combined for 1898.0 points at the Aichi Shooting Range. China's total edged past the previous world mark to open their campaign in Nagoya on top of the podium.

Maskar and Valarivan backed up the team result with strong individual qualification scores of 634.1 and 633.5, enough to book both of them a place in the eight-shooter individual final later the same day.
