Suchika Tariyal Wins India's First-Ever Asian Games MMA Medal

Suchika Tariyal has officially secured a bronze medal for India in the women's traditional -60kg mixed martial arts event at the 2026 Asian Games, marking India's first-ever Asian Games medal in MMA.

The 36-year-old, a former judo and jiu-jitsu champion, sealed her place on the podium after a hard-fought semifinal at Anjo City Gymnasium. MMA is making its debut as a medal sport at these Games.

The medal comes on a day India also saw a shooting double-podium finish, taking the country's overall Asian Games 2026 tally to six medals across two sports.
