Rishikanta Singh Wins Silver in Men's 60kg Weightlifting at CWG 2026

Rishikanta Singh added to India's opening-day weightlifting haul at the Commonwealth Games 2026 in Glasgow, winning silver in the men's 60kg category. He competed at the SEC Armadillo, the same venue where Mirabai Chanu completed her hat-trick of CWG golds on the same day.

Singh's silver came alongside another Indian medal in the discipline, with Raja Muthupandi taking silver in the men's 65kg event. Together, the results gave India three weightlifting medals on a single day of competition, underlining the depth of the country's lifting contingent at these Games.

India has traditionally been strong in Commonwealth Games weightlifting, topping the medal standings at both Gold Coast 2018 and Birmingham 2022. Singh's performance continues that trend heading into Glasgow 2026, with more weight categories still to be contested across the Games.
