Raja Muthupandi Wins Silver in Men's 65kg Weightlifting at CWG 2026

Raja Muthupandi added another weightlifting medal for India at the Commonwealth Games 2026 in Glasgow, winning silver in the men's 65kg category. He competed at the SEC Armadillo, the venue that also saw Mirabai Chanu complete her hat-trick of CWG golds and Rishikanta Singh take silver in the men's 60kg.

Muthupandi's silver made it three weightlifting medals for India on a single day of competition. The result reflects the depth of India's lifting squad heading into these Games, coming from a contingent that features six women and five men.

India has a strong recent history in Commonwealth Games weightlifting, having topped the medal table at both Gold Coast 2018 and Birmingham 2022. Muthupandi's podium finish keeps that tradition alive as the competition continues in Glasgow, with more weight categories still to come across the Games.

For Muthupandi, the silver marks a big result on the international stage and adds to India's growing medal tally at CWG 2026.
