Shilpa K Shyla Wins Bronze in Women's Shot Put F57 at CWG 2026
Shilpa K Shyla won bronze in the women's shot put F57 final at the Commonwealth Games 2026 in Glasgow. She had originally finished fourth with a personal-best throw of 7.26m.
Shilpa was elevated to bronze after Nigeria's Eucharia Iyiazi was disqualified following an official review. The result gave India its first double podium finish of these Games in a single event.
Fellow Indian Sharmila Dhankar took gold in the same event with a season-best throw of 9.81m. Ghana's Zinabu Issah claimed silver with 8.65m.
This was Shilpa's first Commonwealth Games medal. The Karnataka-based para-athlete lost her leg at age four and trains at SAI Bengaluru. She said the achievement was hard to put into words and thanked her coaches and support staff for helping her reach the podium.
The bronze took India's overall medal tally at the Glasgow Games to 10.
