Sharmila Dhankar Wins Gold in Women's Shot Put F57 at CWG 2026

Sharmila Dhankar won gold in the women's shot put F57 final at the Commonwealth Games 2026 in Glasgow. The 40-year-old Haryana para-athlete produced a season-best throw of 9.81m to top the podium.

Ghana's Zinabu Issah took silver with 8.65m. Fellow Indian Shilpa K Shyla was later elevated to bronze after Nigeria's Eucharia Iyiazi was disqualified following an official review, giving India a double podium finish in the event.

Dhankar took up para-athletics just six years ago and has since become one of India's most consistent performers in the discipline. Her gold in Glasgow is one of the standout results of India's campaign at these Games.

The win continues India's strong showing in weightlifting and para-athletics at CWG 2026, with medals now coming from across multiple disciplines.
