Murali Sreeshankar Wins Second Straight CWG Long Jump Silver

Murali Sreeshankar won silver in the men's long jump final at the Commonwealth Games 2026 in Glasgow. His best effort of 8.09m came on his second attempt. Jamaica's Tajay Gayle took gold with 8.15m, while Scotland's Stephen Mackenzie claimed bronze with 8.08m.

Sreeshankar stayed in contention for gold right up to his final attempt, managing 7.97m on his sixth jump, six centimetres short of Gayle's winning mark. Fellow Indian Lokesh Sathyanathan finished fifth with a jump of 7.97m.

This is Sreeshankar's second consecutive Commonwealth Games long jump silver. He had also won silver at Birmingham 2022 with a best jump of 8.08m. The result makes him the first Indian men's long jumper to win two Commonwealth Games medals.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated Sreeshankar for the achievement, calling his performance outstanding.
