Harjinder Kaur Wins Silver With Career-Best Lift in Women's 69kg at CWG 2026

Harjinder Kaur won silver in the women's 69kg weightlifting event at the Commonwealth Games 2026 in Glasgow, lifting a career-best total of 227kg (101kg snatch, 126kg clean and jerk). She sealed second place with a successful 126kg lift on her final clean and jerk attempt.

Canada's Charlotte Simoneau took gold with a total of 235kg, while Australia's Nya Hayman claimed bronze with 218kg. Harjinder also rewrote the Commonwealth Games snatch record twice during the competition en route to the podium.

This is her second consecutive Commonwealth Games medal, having won bronze in the 71kg category at Birmingham 2022. Born in Mehas village near Nabha in Punjab, Harjinder grew up in a modest, landless farming family. The result took India's weightlifting medal count at these Games to seven — one gold, five silver and one bronze.
