Lovepreet Singh Wins Silver in Men's +110kg Weightlifting at CWG 2026

India's Lovepreet Singh won the silver medal in the men's +110kg weightlifting event at the Commonwealth Games 2026 in Glasgow, narrowly missing out on gold by just 1kg.

Lovepreet lifted a combined total of 388kg (176kg snatch + 212kg clean and jerk). He set a new Games record in the snatch with 176kg, taking a commanding lead into the clean and jerk. However, New Zealand's David Liti produced a stunning final lift of 223kg in the clean and jerk to seal gold with a Games record total of 389kg, edging out Lovepreet by a single kilogram.

This is Lovepreet's second Commonwealth Games medal, having won bronze in the 109kg category at Birmingham 2022. The 28-year-old from Amritsar, Punjab, took up weightlifting at age 13 and has progressed through India's junior and senior ranks via the SAI National Camp in Patiala.

With this result, Indian weightlifters concluded the Glasgow 2026 Games campaign with eight medals overall — one gold (Mirabai Chanu), six silver, and one bronze.
