Preeti Pawar Wins Gold in Women's 54kg Boxing at CWG 2026

Preeti Pawar won gold in the women's 54kg boxing final at the Commonwealth Games 2026 in Glasgow. She beat Canada's Scarlett Delgado 5-0 by unanimous decision, sweeping all three rounds.

Pawar made a composed start even as Delgado landed a few early punches. She settled into her rhythm quickly, using her left hook to control the opening round, which the judges gave her 5-0. She kept up the pressure in the second round with sharp combinations that forced a standing count on Delgado, and closed out the final round on top with clean punches to seal the win.

This is India's first boxing gold of the day at these Games, coming just before Jaismine Lamboria's gold in the 57kg final.

Pawar had already won titles at the 2026 Asian Boxing Championships and the 2025 World Boxing Cup Final earlier this year. She reached the final unbeaten, having stopped Zambia's Catherine Mwape in the semifinal.
