Unnati Sharma Wins Bronze in Women's 63kg Judo at CWG 2026
Unnati Sharma won the bronze medal in the women's 63kg judo category at the Commonwealth Games 2026 in Glasgow, defeating South Africa's Skye Knoester in the bronze-medal contest.
Unnati sealed the win with a clean ippon, hooking her opponent's leg to unbalance her before driving her onto her back. The contest was over in just 1 minute and 7 seconds.
She had earlier lost her semifinal to Australia's Saya Middleton, the eventual silver medallist, by ippon. Unnati made a bright start in that bout with an early yuko, but Middleton fought back to level the score before sealing the win with two waza-aris in quick succession.
Unnati opened her campaign with an ippon win over Eswatini's Lamulela Magagula in the round of 16, then edged past New Zealand's Qona Christie by waza-ari in the quarter-finals. The bronze takes India's judo tally at these Games to four medals, following two golds from Asmita Dey and Harsh Singh and a silver from Yamini Mourya.
