Aston Villa Complete £30m Signing of Taylor Harwood-Bellis From Southampton

Aston Villa have completed the signing of centre-back Taylor Harwood-Bellis from Southampton for a package worth £30 million, filling the gap left by Ezri Konsa's earlier move to Arsenal.

The deal is structured as a £25m guaranteed fee plus £5m in add-ons. Villa had seen two earlier bids rejected before Southampton finally accepted their valuation, with Emery's side pivoting to Harwood-Bellis after learning that first-choice target Joel Ordonez would face a lengthy layoff with a foot injury. The 24-year-old had been notably absent from Southampton's recent squads amid growing speculation over his future.

A Manchester City academy product, Harwood-Bellis progressed through loan spells at Blackburn, Anderlecht, Stoke and Burnley before joining Southampton for the 2023-24 season, going on to make 134 appearances and win a single England cap. He becomes Villa's ninth signing of a busy summer, completing a defensive rebuild that has also seen Leon Goretzka and Zion Suzuki arrive at Villa Park.
