RB Leipzig Complete £15m Signing of Marc Guiu From Chelsea
RB Leipzig have completed the signing of striker Marc Guiu from Chelsea for a reported £15 million, ending a two-year spell at Stamford Bridge in which he struggled to secure regular first-team football.
The 20-year-old Spaniard has signed a five-year contract running until 2031 and will wear the number 9 shirt at Red Bull Arena. Guiu joined Chelsea from Barcelona in the summer of 2024, with the club paying his release clause of around €6 million, and made 29 appearances in all competitions, scoring eight goals, including six in six Conference League matches during a standout run in his first season. A loan spell at Sunderland was cut short by injury issues at his parent club.
Chelsea retain a reported 20% sell-on clause as part of the deal, which was struck after what Fabrizio Romano described as "secret talks and zero links" before the move was confirmed. Leipzig sporting director Marcel Schafer praised Guiu's "intensity, tempo and incredible work-rate," adding that the club had followed his development closely since he was first on their radar during his time at Barcelona.
The move gives Guiu a fresh platform in the Bundesliga, joining a Leipzig side that has also recently welcomed back fan favourite Christopher Nkunku.
