Towhid Hridoy Smashes Bangladesh-Record 350 Not Out for Bangladesh A

Towhid Hridoy smashed an unbeaten 350 for Bangladesh A against South Africa A in Potchefstroom, rewriting the national first-class record book in the process.

The innings, spread across 481 balls, saw Hridoy surpass Tamim Iqbal's previous Bangladeshi first-class record of 334, set for East Zone against Central Zone in the 2019 Bangladesh Cricket League. Hridoy also became the first Bangladeshi batter to score a triple-century in first-class cricket outside the country, reaching 300 from 450 balls and weathering a tense passage around the 290s when South Africa A took the second new ball to try to break his rhythm.

Bangladesh A eventually declared on 676 for 8, with Rejaur Rahman unbeaten on 31 after a crucial late partnership that allowed Hridoy to bat through to the close. He had the opportunity to push on toward 400 but opted to declare with the team's position in mind rather than chase the individual milestone further.

The knock caps a breakout run of red-ball form for the 25-year-old, who has primarily been known for his white-ball exploits since debuting for Bangladesh in 2023, and adds another marker to a year in which he has also been named Bangladesh's Asian Games vice-captain.
