Wrexham Make Approach to Sign Free Agent Jamie Vardy

Wrexham have made an approach to sign free agent Jamie Vardy, with owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney eyeing another eye-catching addition to Phil Parkinson's Championship squad.

Vardy, 39, has been without a club since leaving Italian side Cremonese following their relegation to Serie B, and is under no pressure to decide before the transfer window closes given his free-agent status allows him to sign at any point. Reports suggest he has several other offers to weigh, including interest from West Ham, Sheffield Wednesday, MLS clubs and Sao Paulo, and is expected to take his time before committing to his next move.

The former Leicester City striker retired from a 13-year spell at the King Power Stadium having scored 200 goals in 500 appearances, and was central to the club's remarkable 2015-16 Premier League title triumph. Wrexham have already spent around £25m this window, including a club-record £8m deal for goalkeeper Anthony Patterson, as they push to build a squad capable of competing at the top of the Championship following back-to-back promotions from League Two and League One.
