Gabriel Jesus in Line for Barcelona Debut Against Valencia

Gabriel Jesus could make his Barcelona debut against Valencia at Mestalla, with head coach Hansi Flick confirming the Brazilian is in contention for second-half minutes despite not yet being at full fitness following his deadline-day move from Arsenal.

"I really liked what I saw from Gabriel during training. He's ready to play a few minutes; we'll see in the second half how the match is going," Flick said in his pre-match press conference. Jesus trained fully with the squad for the first time on Friday, having managed only a partial session on Thursday, and has been handed the number 9 shirt at his new club.

The timing brings an unusual selection headache for Flick, with Jesus' return coinciding with midfielder Gavi also being available again after injury, leaving the German coach with 24 fit players for a squad that can only register 23 under La Liga rules.
