Joao Pedro Wins Official Premier League Player of the Month Award for August

Joao Pedro has been named the official EA Sports Premier League Player of the Month for August 2026, his first Premier League Player of the Month honour and the first time a Chelsea player has won the award since Cole Palmer in September 2024.

The Brazilian topped an eight-man shortlist after registering four goal contributions across Chelsea's opening two league matches. He struck just 31 seconds into Chelsea's 3-2 win at Fulham with a flick over goalkeeper Bernd Leno, before setting up Cole Palmer's winner. He repeated the trick in Chelsea's 4-3 home win over his former club Brighton, scoring the third goal before again teeing up Palmer for the decisive strike.

Pedro finished ahead of teammate Palmer and six other shortlisted players, including Riccardo Calafiori, Rayan Cherki, Bruno Fernandes, Mamadou Sangare, Konstantinos Tzolakis and Yoane Wissa, with the winner determined by a combination of public voting and a panel of football experts. He becomes the seventh Brazilian to win the award, following Juninho, Edu, David Luiz, Lucas Moura, Rodrigo Muniz and Igor Thiago, continuing his hot start to life under new head coach Xabi Alonso following his move from Brighton.
