Richarlison's Vasco da Gama Move Collapses Over Personal Terms on Deadline Night

Richarlison's proposed move to boyhood club Vasco da Gama has collapsed on deadline night, with Tottenham having agreed a fee with the Brazilian side before personal terms proved impossible to finalise before the window's close.

Tottenham reportedly lowered their valuation from an initial £40m to around £17m to get a deal over the line, but wage expectations between Richarlison's camp and Vasco ultimately could not be bridged. The forward, who watches Vasco matches into the early hours and has long declared his support for the club, is now expected to remain at Tottenham until at least January, unable to play in the Premier League after being left out of the club's 25-man squad.

The saga adds to a turbulent few weeks for the 29-year-old, following the earlier collapse of a proposed £35m deadline-day return to Everton. Richarlison and Tottenham remain locked in a dispute over the remaining nine months of his contract, with the forward reportedly exploring a FIFA appeal to terminate his deal early, hoping to follow the precedent set by Renan Lodi. Tottenham, however, retain the option to trigger a 12-month extension, complicating any such move. Asked about the situation, head coach Roberto De Zerbi declined to comment, saying only: "I know very well what the club has done for Richarlison and what Richarlison has done for the club."
