Joe Root Surpasses Tendulkar for Most Test Fifties, Reaches 110 Scores of 50-Plus

Joe Root etched his name into the record books once again, surpassing Sachin Tendulkar for the most half-centuries in Test cricket history during England's series-sealing win over Pakistan at Edgbaston.

The knock took his tally of Test fifties to 69, one clear of Tendulkar's long-standing mark of 68, a record the Indian great had held since retiring from international cricket. Root also ticked off another landmark in the same innings, becoming the first batter ever to pass 1,000 Test runs at Edgbaston, joining Lord's, Old Trafford and The Oval as venues where he has crossed the milestone.

With 14,278 Test runs to his name, Root now sits second on the all-time run-scoring list behind only Tendulkar's 15,921, keeping alive the conversation about just how far the England captain's remarkable consistency might ultimately take him before his career is done.
