England Sweep Sri Lanka 3-0 as Buttler's Unbeaten 62 Seals Series
England completed a 3-0 T20I series sweep of Sri Lanka, winning the third and final match by eight wickets at Old Trafford, with Jos Buttler steering the chase with an unbeaten 62.
Sri Lanka were bowled out for 124 in 18.5 overs, their lowest first-innings score at Old Trafford since 2018. England shared the wickets around, with Sonny Baker, Jofra Archer and Will Jacks each taking two. Baker, who finished the series with six wickets at an economy of 6.58, was named Player of the Match.
Buttler and Harry Brook put on 85 runs off just 39 balls to blow the chase open, with England reaching 82 for one inside the powerplay. Brook made 26 before being run out, but Buttler kept going, finishing the match with a six over square leg to complete the chase in just 9.4 overs, 62 balls to spare.
The win extends Sri Lanka's losing run against England in the format to 15 straight defeats. It also caps a dominant series for Buttler, who reached 15,000 career T20 runs in the second match at Cardiff, becoming the first men's player to hit the milestone.
