Cunha's Late Deflected Strike Salvages Point for Man United at Fulham
Manchester United were denied a first Premier League win in five games as Matheus Cunha struck an 89th-minute equaliser to salvage a 1-1 draw at Fulham.
Fulham had taken the lead in the 63rd minute when Calvin Bassey's long-range effort was parried by goalkeeper Senne Lammens into the path of Lisandro Martinez, with the rebound cannoning in off the United defender for an own goal. United pushed for a response and had chances through Bruno Fernandes, who struck the post earlier in the half, before Cunha finally found an equaliser, his low shot taking a heavy deflection off David Affengruber to wrong-foot Bernd Leno.
United had appeals for a late penalty turned down by VAR after the ball struck Calvin Bassey's arm in the box. The result leaves United with just one win from their opening five league matches, while Fulham remain without a Premier League victory this season.
