Kuldeep Yadav Joins Yorkshire for Maiden County Stint

Kuldeep Yadav has signed with Yorkshire as an overseas player for the rest of the 2026 English season. This will be his first-ever stint in county cricket.

The deal covers five One-Day Cup matches to start with. Kuldeep begins his stint against Glamorgan at Neath on Friday, July 24. He will then return to Headingley in September to play three of Yorkshire's final four County Championship matches.

The move comes at an interesting time for the 31-year-old wrist-spinner. Kuldeep was part of India's recent tour of England but did not get a single game in the 2-1 ODI series loss. He also missed out during India's T20I series in Ireland and England. The lack of opportunities has been a talking point back home, with several former players questioning the team management's calls.

Yorkshire's general manager of cricket, Gavin Hamilton, said the dry summer conditions make Kuldeep's left-arm wrist spin a valuable addition for the closing stages of the season. Kuldeep said he was excited to join a club with such a proud history and looks forward to contributing during his time at Headingley.

Kuldeep joins a growing list of Indian players turning out in county cricket this season, including Yuzvendra Chahal at Northamptonshire, Jaydev Unadkat at Sussex, and Ashutosh Sharma at Hampshire.
