Juventus Beat Ten-Man Napoli 2-0 With Long-Range Goals From Alajbegović and Boga
Juventus beat Napoli 2-0 at the Allianz Stadium in Turin on Sunday, November 1, in a Serie A Matchday 10 game. Kerim Alajbegović scored in the 70th minute. Jérémie Boga added a second in the 87th. Both goals came from outside the box. Napoli finished with ten men after Luca Marianucci was sent off.
The first half was goalless. The play was tight, and most of the danger came from set pieces. Juan Cabal's header from a corner hit the frame of the goal. Alajbegović had a shot saved by Alex Meret. Bremer and Noa Lang also missed good chances.
Juventus changed their shape at half-time. McKennie made way for Gatti, and the team moved into a 3-5-2 shape. The change worked. Juventus broke through in the second half. Alajbegović cut inside and hit a powerful shot past Meret. Edon Zhegrova set up the goal. Alajbegović was booked a minute later. He was taken off in the 72nd minute for Boga.
Napoli then lost Marianucci. He was already on a yellow card, and he fouled Cabal in the 75th minute. A second yellow followed, and then a red.
Boga sealed the win. Andrea Cambiaso passed to him on the left, and Boga cut inside. He then curled a right-footed shot into the far corner. Boga is only the second African player to score for Juventus against Napoli in Serie A. The first was Mario Lemina in September 2015.
The win was a big one for Luciano Spalletti's side. Juventus had lost 2-0 at Genoa on October 28. They played this game on the club's 129th birthday. Napoli coach Massimiliano Allegri was suspended and was not on the touchline.
Napoli had won 4-1 at Monza on October 28 before this trip to Turin. They now sit on 14 points. Juventus move up to 17.
Juventus needed this result after a rough week. The two long-range goals gave them a much-needed lift.
