Jude Bellingham Becomes First Englishman to Score 50 Goals for Real Madrid, Reaching It in 154 Games
Jude Bellingham has become the first Englishman to score 50 goals for Real Madrid. He reached the mark in the 3-0 win at Racing Santander on Sunday, November 1. The goal was Real Madrid's second of the game. It came in the 21st minute and was his 50th in 154 appearances.
Bellingham is also the 50th player in the club's history to reach 50 goals, according to Opta. His goal ended a drought. He had gone seven matches without scoring before this game.
His numbers for the club are strong. Of his 50 goals, 38 have come in LaLiga, from 98 league games. He has also set up 35 goals. Bellingham is the only midfielder in LaLiga to reach 50 goals since the 2023-24 season, when he joined from Borussia Dortmund.
He is far ahead of the other English players at the club. He was already the top English scorer in Real Madrid's history. David Beckham and Laurie Cunningham are joint-second with 20 goals each.
The goal came in a one-sided first half. Kylian Mbappé scored a penalty in the 11th minute after being fouled by Matteo Prati. Bellingham made it 2-0. Yan Diomande then volleyed home a third before half-time. It was his goal from outside the box. That made him the sixth player to score multiple goals from outside the area in LaLiga this season. Diomande has three goals and two assists this season. Only Barcelona's Lamine Yamal has more goal contributions among teenagers in Europe's top five leagues.
Racing had a late penalty overturned by VAR after Aurélien Tchouaméni's handball was ruled accidental. Bellingham also had a second goal ruled out for offside.
Trent Alexander-Arnold started the game. It was his first start since a 3-2 win at Elche on September 15.
It was Real Madrid's sixth win in a row in all competitions. They are third in LaLiga, three points behind leaders Barcelona. Last week they beat Barcelona 2-1 in the Clásico.
For Bellingham, this milestone comes at a good time, with José Mourinho's side chasing the title.
