Getafe Beat Sevilla 3-1 After Second-Half Comeback as Manu Bueno Is Sent Off
Getafe came from behind to beat Sevilla 3-1 at the Coliseum on Sunday, November 1, in a La Liga Matchday 11 game. Uruguayan forward Martin Satriano was at the centre of everything in the second half. He set up Enes Unal's equaliser and then scored the winning goal himself. Sevilla's Manu Bueno was sent off late in the game for a last-man foul on Satriano.
Sevilla took the lead in the 19th minute with their first shot of the match. Felix Correia swung in a corner, and Kike Salas rose alone to head it in. Defender Djene had lost his marker. It was a big blow for Getafe, who started the game in the relegation zone for the first time since the opening round. They had also been heavily beaten by Lugano in their last home appearance. Sevilla could have scored a second before the break, but two efforts from Stassin did not go in. Getafe went in at half-time to boos from the home fans.
The home side were a different team after the break. Sevilla goalkeeper Odysseas Vlachodimos had to keep out an effort from Andres Garcia after a good move led by Satriano. Getafe then drew level in the 68th minute. Satriano beat several players, especially Kike Salas, and crossed for Enes Unal to score.
Getafe took the lead soon after. The goal was surrounded by controversy. A linesman raised his flag for a possible foul on a Sevilla player, but the referee, Victor Garcia Verdura, did not blow his whistle. Some Sevilla players stopped, and play went on. Unal crossed into the box, and Satriano finished with a back-heel. The VAR checked the goal and allowed it to stand. Sevilla's players protested strongly.
Sevilla could not find an answer. In the 91st minute, Satriano broke clear, and substitute Manu Bueno brought him down as the last defender. He was shown a straight red card. In the fourth minute of stoppage time, Orel Mangala added a third goal to seal the game, after a pass from Andres Garcia.
The result is a big boost for Getafe. Sevilla have won only one of their last five league games, and EFE described their second-half performance as poor. Getafe had 11 shots to Sevilla's 12, but five of their efforts were on target, compared with four for the visitors. Before the match, the two teams observed a minute's silence for the victims of the train accident in Urda, Toledo, last Wednesday.
