Real Madrid Beat Racing Santander 3-0 for Sixth Straight Win as Mbappe, Bellingham and Diomande Score
Real Madrid beat Racing Santander 3-0 at El Sardinero on Sunday, November 1, in a La Liga Matchday 11 game. Goals from Kylian Mbappe, Jude Bellingham and Yan Diomande in the first half gave Madrid their sixth straight win in all competitions. They are now third in the table, within three points of leaders Barcelona.
Madrid came into the game a week after beating Barcelona in the Clasico. Jose Mourinho's side kept up the momentum with a dominant first-half performance. The visitors took the lead in the 11th minute. Madrid were awarded a penalty, and Mbappe stepped up and scored. The decision drew a lot of debate, and some described it as controversial.
The second goal came ten minutes later. Arda Guler played a superb through ball, and Bellingham ran onto it. He skipped past Racing goalkeeper Julen Agirrezabala and rolled the ball home in the 21st minute. It was his 50th goal for Madrid since he joined the club in 2023.
Madrid made it 3-0 in the 36th minute. Racing cleared a corner, and the ball fell to Diomande on the edge of the penalty area. He hit it first time with a stunning shot into the net. By then, Madrid had been in total control. In the first half alone, they had 12 shots, six of them on target, and four big chances. Racing had only three shots and just one on target.
The hosts did come out with more energy after the break. They pushed Madrid back for a spell, and Mourinho was seen shouting instructions at his players from the touchline. Madrid managed the rest of the game comfortably, though, and Racing never threatened a comeback.
It was the first home defeat of the season for Racing. The club were promoted this summer and are back in La Liga for the first time in 14 seasons. They had earned all 11 of their points at home before this game. They now sit in 16th place, one point above the relegation zone.
For Madrid, the result moves them to 22 points. They remain in pursuit of Barcelona in the title race. Madrid's next challenge will be to keep the run going.
