Camilo Durán scores twice as Celtic beat Beşiktaş 3-2 in Europa League thriller

Celtic came from behind to beat Beşiktaş 3-2 at Celtic Park on Thursday night, 5 November 2026, in a dramatic Europa League league-phase game. It was matchday four, and the win gave Celtic their first three points of the campaign.

The first half ended 0-0. Beşiktaş took the lead in the 54th minute through Junior Olaitan. His penalty was saved by Celtic goalkeeper Sam Johnstone, but the rebound stayed in play and Olaitan scored from close range.

Celtic hit back in the 62nd minute. Substitute Callum Osmand scored the equaliser with a right-footed shot from outside the box, set up by Callum McGregor. The game then opened up in the final stretch.

Celtic's other substitute, Camilo Durán, took over. He put Celtic ahead with a left-footed finish from the left side of the box, set up by Osmand. Beşiktaş replied in the 85th minute through substitute Orkun Kökçü, who hit a right-footed shot from outside the box to make it 2-2.

Celtic did not settle for a draw. In the 87th minute, Durán struck again with a left-footed shot from the centre of the box. It was the winning goal. Durán scored twice within 26 minutes of coming on as a substitute, which turned a tense night into a famous one for the home crowd.

A crowd of 44,394 watched at Celtic Park. Celtic's Benjamin Nygren was booked in the 60th minute, while Beşiktaş's Amir Murillo and Emirhan Topcu were shown yellow cards late in the game.

The result gives Celtic a much-needed lift, because it is their first win of the league phase. With four matchdays still to play, every point now matters for Celtic as they chase a place in the knockout rounds. Beşiktaş, for their part, will be disappointed to lose after pulling level so late in the game.
