Conference League: Brighton edge Getafe, Monaco stay perfect, Ajax thrash Midtjylland 6-1

Three clubs enjoyed wins in the Conference League league phase on Thursday, 5 November 2026. Brighton won 1-0 at Getafe, Monaco beat Nordsjælland 2-0, and Ajax thrashed Midtjylland 6-1.

Getafe 0-1 Brighton. Malick Yalcouyé scored the only goal in the 64th minute. Costinha cushioned a header back across the face of goal, and the Ivory Coast midfielder headed in from close range. Ibrahim Osman missed a close-range chance to double the lead in the 79th minute. Brighton kept a clean sheet, and goalkeeper Bart Verbruggen was named among the stars of the night. The win moved Brighton into fifth place, inside the top eight, and they are unbeaten in their three games, with three league-phase games left. Their previous European match was a 0-0 draw at Jablonec. Coach Fabian Hürzeler said his team did not play at their best and were at times lazy, but he felt they deserved the win. Yalcouyé was one of five changes after Brighton's 1-0 win at Manchester City.

Monaco 2-0 Nordsjælland. Mathys Detourbet scored in the 33rd minute, set up by Takumi Minamino. Matthis Abline sealed it in stoppage time, in the 91st minute, assisted by Detourbet. Monaco had already won their first two league-phase games, a narrow win at CSKA Sofia on 15 October and a 3-0 win over Freiburg on 22 October. That means they keep a perfect record with three wins from three. Their next games are at Hearts on 26 November and at Brighton on 10 December.

Midtjylland 1-6 Ajax. Ajax ran riot in Denmark. Tolu Arokodare scored twice, in the 9th and 52nd minutes. Midtjylland's Friday Etim equalised in the 28th minute, and the game stayed level at 1-1 until after the break. Then Ajax took over. Owen Wijndal scored in the 59th minute, Davy Klaassen in the 67th, Oscar Gloukh in the 74th and Marcos Leonardo in the 82nd. Ajax scored five goals in the last 38 minutes.
