India Defend Asian Games Cricket Gold, Beat Pakistan by 19 Runs Despite Hasan Nawaz's Heroic 96
India beat Pakistan by 19 runs in the Gold Medal Match to defend their Asian Games cricket title, chasing down a nervy finish against a brilliant Pakistan fightback at Korogi Sports Park. Batting first, India posted a commanding 211 for 6 in their 20 overs. Abhishek Sharma set the tone with a blistering 61 off 28 balls including 7 sixes, and Tilak Varma finished unbeaten on 51 off 22 to power India past the 200 mark, with Arafat Minhas and Ahmed Daniyal the pick of the Pakistan bowlers with two wickets apiece. Pakistan's chase looked out of reach for long periods, but Hasan Nawaz produced a sensational 96 off just 51 balls, striking 5 fours and 7 sixes, to drag his side within sight of an improbable win. Axar Patel , Washington Sundar and Shivam Dube picked up two wickets each to restrict Pakistan to 192 for 6, with Nawaz left stranded as India held on for a 19-run victory. The win gives India back-to-back gold medals in men's cricket at the Asian Games, while Sri Lanka had earlier claimed bronze with a 63-run win over Bangladesh.
Ratnayake's 65 and Two Wickets Lead Sri Lanka to Asian Games Cricket Bronze
Sri Lanka won the bronze medal in men's cricket at the Asian Games 2026 , beating Bangladesh by 63 runs in the 3rd place play-off at Korogi Sports Park in Nisshin on Saturday, October 3. Sri Lanka chose to bat and were in trouble at 21 for 4 inside four overs. Captain Sahan Arachchige and Tharindu Ratnayake then added 93 runs in 44 balls on a difficult surface. Mustafizur Rahman and Saif Hassan took two wickets each for Bangladesh. Ratnayake then starred with the new ball. He and Nuwan Thushara took two wickets apiece as Bangladesh slipped to 18 for 4 in 3.5 overs. The top three batters were all dismissed for ducks. Parvez Hossain Emon (20), Yasir Ali (21) and Nasum Ahmed (26) got starts, but none could turn the chase around. Vijayakanth Viyaskanth and Wanuja Sahan also took two wickets each, and all six Sri Lankan bowlers got among the wickets. Bangladesh were bowled out for 102 in 17.3 overs . Sri Lanka lost their semi-final to India by 124 runs after being bowled out for 45. They bounced back to finish on the podium, with Nasum Ahmed caught at long-on by Ashen Bandara off Arachchige to end the match. Bangladesh, who lost their semi-final to Pakistan, finished fourth. The bronze is Sri Lanka's third medal at these Games. Rumesh Tharanga Pathirage won javelin gold, and the women's cricket team took silver behind India. The men's gold medal match between India and Pakistan is being played at the same venue later on Saturday.
South Africa Win ODI Series 2-1 as Australia Salvage Consolation Win in Rain-Hit Finale
Australia avoided a series whitewash, beating South Africa by 45 runs via DLS in a rain-affected third ODI at Potchefstroom, with the hosts sealing the three-match series 2-1. Put in to bat, Australia posted 322 for 9, built on half-centuries from Alex Carey (74) and captain Mitchell Marsh (56), with Ollie Peake adding 48. Corbin Bosch was the pick of the South African bowlers with 4 for 60. Adam Zampa then struck twice in the middle overs to peg back the chase, and with Tony de Zorzi forced off with a hamstring injury, South Africa were 145 for 4 off 28 overs, with Ryan Rickelton unbeaten on 71, when persistent rain ended the match and handed the result to Australia on DLS. South Africa had already secured the series with wins in the first two matches at the Wanderers, but the washout denied them a clean sweep. Pat Cummins's return and a revival in form from Zampa and Carey were the key factors behind Australia salvaging a consolation win. The two sides now turn to a three-Test series, beginning in Durban on October 9.
ICC Men's Cricket World Cup 2027 Groups Announced: India and Pakistan Drawn Together in Group A
The groups for the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup 2027 are out, and India and Pakistan have been placed in the same pool. The ICC and Cricket South Africa revealed the draw at the one-year-to-go event in Cape Town on October 1. Here is how the two groups look right now: Group A: India, Pakistan, Australia, Afghanistan, Zimbabwe Group B: South Africa, England, New Zealand, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh Each group has five confirmed teams for now. The remaining places in the 14-team field will be filled through the World Cup Qualifier, which runs from February 22 to March 23, 2027. Two-time champions West Indies have to come through that route. Group A carries plenty of star power. India and Pakistan share a pool once again, with Australia and Afghanistan in the mix. Zimbabwe will back their home support as co-hosts. Group B is just as tough. South Africa lead the hosts' charge, and England , New Zealand , Sri Lanka and Bangladesh will not make life easy for them. The format is new this time. The three lowest-ranked qualified sides play a Super Series first, and only the winner moves ahead. That leaves 12 teams in two groups of six. The top three from each group, plus the best fourth-placed side, enter the Super 7 stage. The top four from there reach the semi-finals. The tournament will be played across South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia, with the final on November 21, 2027 . Follow the group standings on the live points table as the event gets closer.
Bangladesh to Face Sri Lanka in Asian Games Bronze Medal Match
Bangladesh will take on Sri Lanka for bronze in the Asian Games 2026 men's cricket competition on Saturday, October 3, after both sides lost their semi-finals a day earlier. Bangladesh fell to Pakistan in a rain-affected first semi-final, with the match reduced and Pakistan chasing down a revised target of 111 in just 11.3 overs. Sri Lanka endured a far heavier defeat in the second semi-final, bowled out for just 45, their lowest-ever T20I total, as India cruised to a 124-run win built around Ishan Kishan's unbeaten 80. The bronze medal match is scheduled to be played before the gold medal final at Korogi Sports Park in Nisshin, with both sides looking to end their campaigns on the podium after missing out on a shot at gold.
India to Face Pakistan in Asian Games Gold Medal Match on October 3
India will face Pakistan in the Asian Games 2026 men's cricket gold medal match on Saturday, October 3, at Korogi Sports Park in Nisshin, after both sides won their semi-finals on October 1. India thrashed Sri Lanka by 124 runs, their biggest-ever T20I win margin over the Lankans, powered by Ishan Kishan's unbeaten 80 and a ruthless bowling display that dismissed Sri Lanka for just 45. Pakistan booked their spot with a rain-shortened win over Bangladesh, chasing down a revised target of 111 in just 11.3 overs in the first semi-final. India are the defending champions, having won gold at Hangzhou 2023, and will be chasing back-to-back titles. If the final is washed out entirely without a result, India and Pakistan would share the gold medal rather than a replay or a shared silver. The final is scheduled to begin at 10:30 AM local time, with the bronze medal match between Bangladesh and Sri Lanka played earlier the same day.
Ishan Kishan's 80 Sets India T20I Record for No. 5 or Lower
Ishan Kishan set a new India T20I record with an unbeaten 80 against Sri Lanka in the Asian Games 2026 semi-final, the highest individual score by an Indian batter from No. 5 or lower in the format, surpassing the previous mark held by Manish Pandey. Batting at No. 5, Kishan rescued India from a collapse with a 33-ball fifty before accelerating to 80 not out off just 46 balls , hitting five sixes and four fours at a strike rate of 173.91. He was dropped on 56 by Nuwanidu Fernando, but made Sri Lanka pay as India posted 169 for 7, with Vaibhav Sooryavanshi also chipping in with 38. India's bowlers then ran through Sri Lanka, who were bowled out for just 45 , their lowest-ever T20I total, as Jasprit Bumrah and Axar Patel took two wickets apiece. The 124-run win is India's biggest T20I victory over Sri Lanka and sends the defending champions into the gold medal final, where they will face Pakistan on Saturday, October 3.
Ishan Kishan's Blazing 80 Powers India to 124-Run Thrashing of Sri Lanka, Sets Up Final Against Pakistan
India thrashed Sri Lanka by 124 runs in the 2nd Semi-Final of the 2026 Asian Games to book their place in the final, after posting a dominant total and then bowling Sri Lanka out for just 45. Put in to bat first at Korogi Sports Park, India raced to 169 for 7 in their 20 overs. Ishan Kishan was the standout with an unbeaten 80 off 46 balls laced with 4 fours and 5 sixes, while Vaibhav Sooryavanshi set the tone up top with a rapid 38. Sahan Arachchige and Tharindu Ratnayake picked up two wickets apiece for Sri Lanka, but couldn't stem the flow of runs in the back half. In reply, Sri Lanka's chase never got going. Jasprit Bumrah struck twice in his opening spell, and Abhishek Sharma came on to grab 2 for 2 as the innings unravelled under pressure, with three batters run out along the way. Sri Lanka were bowled out for 45 in just 9.5 overs , handing India a emphatic 124-run win. India will now face Pakistan in the final on October 3 at the same venue, with Pakistan having won their semi-final against Bangladesh by 6 wickets in a rain-shortened contest.
Five Centuries in One ODI: Guwahati Creates History in India vs West Indies
The 2nd ODI between India and West Indies at Guwahati produced a first in cricket history. It became the first ODI ever to feature five centuries . Rohit Sharma's hundred in the chase was the fifth of the day. Until now, four centuries was the highest in a single ODI. That had happened only four times before, including one women's ODI. Guwahati went one better. West Indies started the century rush. They piled up 405/7 at the Barsapara Stadium. Amir Jangoo hit 114 off 77 balls . Shai Hope made 104 off 94 balls . John Campbell smashed 101 off 68 balls , the fastest ODI hundred by a West Indian against India. Hope and Jangoo added 182 for the third wicket. India's openers then answered in style. Rohit Sharma scored 101 off 75 balls . It was his 35th ODI century . Shubman Gill went on to make an unbeaten 223 off 133 balls . The two openers put on 255 runs for the first wicket in just 158 balls. India reached 406/2 in only 43.3 overs and won by 8 wickets . It was the second successful chase of over 400 in ODI history. Kuldeep Yadav was India's best bowler earlier in the day, finishing with 2 wickets for 65 runs. Gill is in top form ahead of the 2027 World Cup. He had also scored a century in the series opener at Thiruvananthapuram. India lead the series 2-0 with one ODI to play. India's 406-run chase is their highest ever in ODI cricket
India have set a new record for their highest successful run chase in ODI cricket. They hunted down 406 runs against West Indies in the 2nd ODI at Guwahati. India finished on 406/2 in just 43.3 overs . They won the match by 8 wickets with 39 balls to spare. The old mark belonged to India's famous chase against Australia in Jaipur in 2013. India made 362 in that game. The new chase beats it by 44 runs . India's chase of 351 against England in Pune in 2017 is another big one on the list. Kohli and Kedar Jadhav starred in that win. Neither of those chases came close to the size of this one. The chase is also the highest in ODIs on Indian soil . It now sits second on the all-time list . Only South Africa's 438/9 against Australia in Johannesburg in 2006 is bigger. Chasing more than 400 has always been rare. Most teams lose the match long before they get close. India made it look simple. Rohit Sharma and captain Shubman Gill put on 255 runs in 158 balls for the first wicket. Rohit scored 101 off 75 balls . India hit 92 runs in the first 10 overs. That gave them a flying start and kept the required rate in check. Gill then took the chase home with an unbeaten 223 off 133 balls . He hit 26 fours and 8 sixes . Virat Kohli chipped in with 29 off 19 balls . Ruturaj Gaikwad remained unbeaten on 31 . Gill and Gaikwad shared an unbroken 86-run stand to finish the game. India scored at 9.33 runs per over through the innings. The target was big because West Indies batted well first. John Campbell , Shai Hope and Amir Jangoo all scored hundreds in their 405/7 . Most sides would have felt safe with that total. India's batters did not. The win gives India a 2-0 lead in the three-match series. The last ODI is on 3 October in New Chandigarh. Check the full scorecard and the series page for every detail of this historic chase.

Shubman Gill's 223 Is Highest-Ever ODI Score by an Indian Captain
Shubman Gill finished his innings on 223 against West Indies in the second ODI at Guwahati, a new career-best score in the format and the highest ODI innings ever played by an Indian while serving as captain. The knock surpassed his previous career-best of 208, made against New Zealand in Hyderabad in January 2023, when he was not yet India's full-time ODI captain. It came during India's chase of West Indies' record 405/7, with Gill reaching his fifty in 38 balls, his century in 62, and the fastest double century in ODI history off just 117 balls, before extending the innings further as India closed in on their target of 406. The innings adds to a remarkable run of milestones in the same match: Gill's fastest-ever ODI double hundred, his second career double century (making him only the second player after Rohit Sharma to reach the mark twice), the fastest century by an Indian captain, and the fastest Indian to 11 ODI hundreds. Rohit Sharma also scored a century at the other end, in a chase built on the second-highest opening stand for India in ODI history.
Shubman Gill Smashes Fastest-Ever ODI Double Century, Second of His Career
Shubman Gill smashed the fastest double century in ODI history , reaching 200 off just 117 balls as India chased West Indies' record 405/7 in the second ODI at Guwahati, breaking Ishan Kishan's previous record of 126 balls. Gill brought up his fifty off 38 balls, his century off 62 balls (the fastest ODI hundred ever by an Indian captain), and then accelerated through the second hundred to reach the double century in the 40th over. It is his second career ODI double century , after his 208 against New Zealand in Hyderabad in January 2023, making him only the second batter in ODI history , after Rohit Sharma, to score two double hundreds in the format. Rohit has three. The innings also confirmed his status as the fastest Indian to 11 ODI centuries, reached in just 67 innings, beating Virat Kohli's previous record of 82, and India's quickest century against West Indies, beating Virender Sehwag's 69-ball hundred from 2011. Rohit Sharma matched his captain for the first hundred runs of the chase, reaching his own century off 72 balls and passing 12,000 ODI runs, before Gill went on alone to the double ton. The pair's opening stand put India in a commanding position in their chase of 406, the highest run chase ever attempted by the hosts in ODI cricket.
West Indies Post Record 405/7 With Three Centurions Against India
West Indies posted 405 for 7 against India in the second ODI at Guwahati, their highest-ever total in the format and the first time they have crossed 400 in an ODI innings. The total was built on centuries from Amir Jangoo (114), Shai Hope (104) and John Campbell (101), making it only the sixth instance in ODI history of three centurions in the same innings, and the first time three West Indies batters have done it together. Hope and Jangoo added 182 for the third wicket, the platform that carried the total well past West Indies' previous record of 389 against England in 2019. Hope's century was his 20th in ODIs, taking him past Brian Lara's tally for West Indies. India's bowling took a beating throughout, with debutant Auqib Nabi among those punished. West Indies eased off slightly at the death, finishing short of 420, but still left India needing 406 to win, which would be India's highest-ever successful ODI run chase if completed.
Rohit Sharma Completes 12,000 ODI Runs, Third Indian After Tendulkar and Kohli
Rohit Sharma completed 12,000 ODI runs during India's chase in the second ODI against West Indies at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati on Wednesday. He is the third Indian to reach the landmark, after Sachin Tendulkar and Virat Kohli . Rohit began the match on 11,927 runs and needed 73 to get there. He reached the mark on exactly 73, with a single off Roston Chase in the 16th over. India were 146 without loss at that stage, chasing a target of 406 after West Indies posted 405 for 7. He had already passed fifty by then, including three successive sixes off Keemo Paul . There was no celebration and no raised bat as he took the single. The milestone came in his 282nd ODI innings , the second fastest to 12,000 runs behind Kohli, who needed 242. Tendulkar took 300 innings, Ricky Ponting 314 and Kumar Sangakkara 336. Rohit is also second quickest by balls faced, at 12,973 to Kohli's 12,853. He and captain Shubman Gill had added 146 for the first wicket when Rohit crossed the mark. It was his 63rd ODI fifty. The 39-year-old began the day with 34 ODI hundreds and a best score of 264.
Kuldeep Yadav Completes 200 ODI Wickets in 2nd ODI vs West Indies
Kuldeep Yadav completed 200 wickets in ODI cricket during the 2nd ODI against West Indies in Guwahati, reaching the milestone after picking up two more wickets in West Indies' innings of 405/7. The left-arm wrist-spinner went into the series opener in Thiruvananthapuram on 194 wickets, picked up a superb 4/40 there, and followed it up today with two more scalps to move to 200 in his 118th ODI. He becomes one of a select group of Indian spinners to reach the landmark, further cementing his place as one of India's most reliable wicket-takers in the format in the last decade. Kuldeep has been in fine form throughout this West Indies series, troubling the top and middle order with his variations and control, and today's milestone comes on the back of another impressive spell with the ball in Guwahati.
ICC to Reveal 2027 Cricket World Cup Schedule on October 1 in Cape Town
The ICC and Cricket South Africa will jointly announce the full schedule for the 2027 Men's Cricket World Cup at an event in Cape Town on Thursday, October 1, marking the one-year countdown to the tournament. The event will also launch the ticket ballot, with fans able to register from October 1, though tickets will not go on general sale immediately. The 2027 World Cup will be co-hosted by South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia, running from October to November 2027, and will expand to a 14-team format for the first time. Ten of those spots are expected to be confirmed via ICC ODI rankings by the September 30 cutoff, with the remaining four decided through qualifiers. The tournament will introduce a new three-stage format designed to add greater stakes to matches throughout the competition, rather than the straightforward group-and-knockout structure used in recent editions.
September 30 Cut-Off Decides 2027 World Cup Automatic Qualifiers, West Indies Miss Out
September 30 marks the cut-off for direct qualification to the 2027 ODI World Cup, with the top eight teams in the ICC ODI rankings on this date, excluding co-hosts South Africa and Zimbabwe, securing automatic entry alongside the two host nations. Afghanistan confirmed their place in the automatic bracket after beating Ireland in the third ODI of their series, joining India, New Zealand, Australia, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, England and Bangladesh among the top eight. Two-time champions West Indies , ranked 10th, missed out despite two ODIs against India still to come before the deadline, as even a clean sweep would not have been enough to break into the top eight. Ireland also fall outside the automatic places. West Indies and Ireland, as the two lowest-ranked non-host Full Members, will instead head to a 10-team Qualifier alongside the top four finishers from Cricket World Cup League 2 and the top four from a separate Qualifier Playoff. Only the top four teams from that Qualifier will advance to next year's tournament in South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia.
India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh Reach Asian Games Cricket Semi-Finals After Washouts
India , Pakistan , Sri Lanka and Bangladesh have reached the semi-finals of the men's cricket competition at the Asian Games 2026 without a ball bowled in the quarter-finals. All four quarter-finals at Korogi Sports Park in Nisshin were abandoned because of persistent rain. The higher-seeded side in each tie went through. The first two washouts came on Monday, September 28. India's tie with Afghanistan and Pakistan's tie with Hong Kong, China were both abandoned. On Tuesday, September 29, the Sri Lanka vs Nepal and Bangladesh vs Malaysia quarter-finals met the same fate. India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka were the four seeded teams, picked on their ICC T20I rankings, so they moved forward. Pakistan will play Bangladesh in the first semi-final on Thursday, October 1, at 5:30 AM IST. India , led by Shreyas Iyer , face Sri Lanka in the second at 10:30 AM IST. The winners meet in the final on October 3, and the losing sides play off for bronze the same day. The weather forecast for Nisshin is expected to improve for the semi-finals and the medal matches. Bangladesh arrive with a solid Asian Games record. They lost the 2023 semi-final to India but won bronze by beating Pakistan in the third-place play-off. Their only men's gold came in 2010, when they beat Afghanistan in the final. None of the four semi-finalists has been able to practise because of the rain.
ICC and CSA to Unveil Full 2027 World Cup Schedule on October 1
ICC and Cricket South Africa (CSA) are set to jointly reveal the full match schedule for the 2027 Men's Cricket World Cup on Thursday, October 1, at a special event in Cape Town — marking the traditional one-year-to-go milestone before the tournament. The reveal is expected to confirm official dates, venues and the complete fixture list for the 14-team tournament, which returns to African soil for the first time since 2003. South Africa , Zimbabwe and Namibia will co-host, after the ICC unveiled the 12 host venues at a launch event in Johannesburg on July 30. Eight venues are in South Africa, including the Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg and Newlands in Cape Town, with three in Zimbabwe and one, a new ground in Windhoek, in Namibia. The tournament is provisionally set to run across October and November 2027, with South Africa expected to host the majority of the 54 matches, Zimbabwe around ten and Namibia a handful. The competition expands to 14 teams for the first time since 2011, split into two groups of seven, with the top three from each group advancing to a Super Six stage ahead of the semi-finals and final. The October 1 event is expected to lock in marquee fixtures, including the dates and venues for potential India-Pakistan clashes, once the official draw and schedule are confirmed.
Tom Banton's Maiden Century Powers England to 223-Run Win, Seals ODI Series
Tom Banton struck his maiden ODI century as England beat Sri Lanka by 223 runs in the third ODI at The Oval, sealing the three-match series 2-1. England posted 355 for 7 after batting first, powered by Banton's 126 off 105 balls . Captain Harry Brook added 77 and Jordan Cox struck a rapid 76 off 52 balls, with the pair sharing a 150-run stand before Cox helped England add 104 in the final 10 overs. Dilhara Fernando was the pick of Sri Lanka's bowlers with 3 for 52. Chasing 356, Sri Lanka never recovered from an early collapse and were bowled out for just 132 in 29.1 overs. Kusal Mendis top-scored with 35, but wickets fell steadily as Liam Dawson (3-26) and Gus Atkinson (2-26) cleaned up the lower order. The result avenged Sri Lanka's 16-run win in the second ODI at Headingley and gave England the series 2-1, with Will Jacks named Player of the Series for his 147 runs and 9 wickets across the three matches.
Miller and Bavuma Centuries Seal South Africa's ODI Series Win Over Australia
David Miller and Temba Bavuma struck centuries as South Africa beat Australia by 32 runs in the second ODI at the Wanderers, sealing the three-match series 2-0 with a match to spare. South Africa slipped to 93 for 3 before Bavuma and Miller came together. The pair added 156 for the fourth wicket, with Bavuma reaching his century off 112 balls before falling for 103. Miller kept going, reaching his own century off just 73 balls and finishing on 142 off 93 balls with 12 fours and nine sixes, his highest ODI score and fourth century against Australia. South Africa closed on 365 for 9, despite a maiden five-wicket haul from Jack Edwards (5-67). Australia fought hard in reply, with Mitchell Marsh and Travis Head both making 84, but couldn't sustain the chase and were bowled out for 333 with just one ball to spare. It was South Africa's sixth successive bilateral ODI series win over Australia. The third and final ODI is on September 30 at the JB Marks Oval in Potchefstroom.
India Crush West Indies by 8 Wickets as Kohli, Gill Hit Centuries in 1st ODI
India began the West Indies tour of India 2026 with a dominant 8-wicket win in the 1st ODI at the Greenfield International Stadium, Thiruvananthapuram, chasing down 296 with 50 balls to spare. Put in to bat after Shubman Gill won the toss, West Indies got off to a flying start. John Campbell (62) and Justin Greaves put on 135 for the first wicket, with Greaves going on to score a maiden ODI century, 101 off 108 balls. Kuldeep Yadav pulled things back for India, picking up a four-wicket haul (4/40) to peg West Indies back from a strong position. A brisk 58 not out off 43 balls from Amir Jangoo lifted the innings to 295 for 7 in the 50 overs, with Prasidh Krishna also chipping in with two wickets. In reply, India never let the required rate get away from them. Rohit Sharma and Gill added 74 for the first wicket before Rohit fell to Alzarri Joseph for 32. That brought Virat Kohli to the crease, and he and Gill put together a 151-run stand that took the game away from West Indies. Gill made 110 off 108 balls, his 10th ODI hundred, before falling to Roston Chase. Kohli was unstoppable at the other end, finishing unbeaten on 139 off just 88 balls with 10 fours and 9 sixes, the most sixes he has ever hit in an ODI innings. In the process, he became only the second batter after Sachin Tendulkar to reach 15,000 ODI runs, doing so in 315 innings, 74 fewer than Tendulkar took. Ruturaj Gaikwad stayed unbeaten on 13 as India got home in 41.4 overs, finishing on 300 for 2. It was a statement opening performance for India across both departments. Kuldeep's four-for set the platform, and the Gill-Kohli partnership did the rest with minimal fuss. West Indies will need a much sharper effort with the ball and in the field if they are to level things up in the remaining matches of the series.
Virat Kohli Becomes Second Batter to 15,000 ODI Runs After Tendulkar
Virat Kohli became only the second batter in ODI history to reach 15,000 runs , after Sachin Tendulkar , during India's first ODI against West Indies at the Greenfield International Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram. Kohli reached the landmark in his 315th ODI innings , 74 innings faster than Tendulkar, who took 377 innings to get there in 2007. He brought up his half-century off 40 balls in the process, breaking his own tied record with Tendulkar for the most 50-plus scores by an Indian against non-Asian teams. He later reached three figures, his 54th ODI hundred, already well clear of Tendulkar's tally of 49. Tendulkar remains the format's all-time leading run-scorer with 18,426 runs from 463 matches, leaving Kohli 3,426 runs behind at the moment he crossed 15,000. Kohli's knock also helped set up a chase led by captain Shubman Gill , who struck his 10th ODI century as India chased down West Indies' target in Thiruvananthapuram.
